“The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down” ~ Psalm 145:14
A light shines over all my troubles. I can see the breaking of night into day. This gives me comfort. To know that my storm clouds and rocky places will become a majestic sight once I can view it from above. Walking the roads, I never could have imagined how steep and dangerous the journey was. I didn’t realized that cliffs lay just beyond the trees or that falling rocks landed so closely behind me. My journey has been transformed into a epistle of faith. (2 Corinthians 3).
I do remember twice coming to forks in the road. I am humbled that I instinctively let my ears hear the whisper that lead me to my current place. Had I turned left at the first fork, I would have been consumed by a fire that blazed through that path a few days after I passed it. I almost took that way, because everything looked so orange and red. Leaves falling like rain from the trees. I was mesmerised. But I stuck to my rocky road that only had a few green bushes for company along the way. The second bend to the right looked just like my road. I didn’t see much difference between the two. Down the way, that road blossomed into a beautiful valley! A never-ending meadow. It’s beautiful and lush nature attracted beasts and bugs that I would have had no defense against. I surely would have died in that glorious place.
Every stumble. Every fall. My God has helped me through them all. He healed my wounds. He restored my strength. He sent unexpected messengers along the way to help me navigate my path safely. He only required that I be willing to open my ear to hear and trust the still small voice inside. I won’t say I wasn’t scared or even hurt along the way. Of course I was! I did not face this with jolly good cheer as in a fictional adventure. This was MY life or MY death. How could anyone do such a journey without fear and pain? As a friend, He stuck with me closer than a brother/sister. He did not make me feel ashamed in my weaknesses. He comforted and reassured me that I could go on. That I had everything I needed inside me already. He showed me that I am not just my body; I am not just my pain. I am a world overcomer!
Everyday is Thanksgiving by Curtis Barnes.
My Lord held me up to lift me up! I am in awe of His never failing guidance and love!
